So far 2012 has been a busy busy year! Not only have I set a lot of personal goals for myself, but work has also been insanely busy which leaves little time for fun or relaxing. This past weekend myself and a few friends packed up and drove up the mountain to Big White ski resort near Kelowna, BC. I'll be honest, I never once used my snow gear (although obviously I packed it) - I went up more for the get away. I had a lovely time relaxing, catching up on my magazines, and knitting! I'm almost finished my first knitting project and can't wait to share!

Goals for 2012

I love the start of a new year. It’s full of so much potential and hope thatthis year can and will be better than the last. 2011 was a good year for me but I have so much planned for 2012 that I’meager to get a jump on it. Here are afew of my goals for the next year:

1. Growvegetables: I live in a 7^thfloor apartment which is not conducive for gardening. But when there’s a will there’s a way! I found a book – “Pot it, grow it, eat it” by Kathryn Hawkins – which offers how totips to grow vegetables in limited spaces. I can't wait to get my hands dirty!

2. Get greener: I've found healthy/eco replacements for many of my cleaning products andpersonal care items. Now it’s time totackle the rest of my life! In 2012, Iwant to make sure 80-90% of the products I use/buy are the safest and greenestchoice. I bought “Skinny Bitch – Home, Beauty & Style” by Kim Barnouin to getsome tips!

3. Do Yoga:I do yoga from time to time but not nearly as much as I would like. My goal this year is to go at least twice aweek.

4. Read morebooks: I've always loved reading butlately I've noticed that I read more blogs than books. While there’s nothing wrong with readingblogs (it's one of my favourite pastimes), I realized on my recent trip to the Dominican how much I've missedbooks! This year, I want to read atleast 1 book a month.

5. Learn to knit: I know how to knit - but I don't know how to knit anything that I would actually use or wear. My mom knit me this amazing infinity scarf for Christmas and I have become obsessed with knitting one myself.

So there they are, my goals for the year. I hope my enthusiasm will continue long after January ends! If anyone has any tips or suggestions for me - drop my a line in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!

We had an amazing time in the Dominican last week. My goal for the week was to spend 90% of the time in my bikini - judging by the pictures I had to pick from I'd say I accomplished that! I spent the week laying on the beach or by the pool with my nose in a book. The humidity and random rain storms left me with some undesirable hair, but all in all it was such a nice way to end off a very busy year!

Theyskens' Theory Pre-Fall 2012

Theysken's Theory is one of those collections that I would wear everyday (if I could afford to wear it everyday). Everything is cut and styled so perfectly. It's the simple looks that are the stand outs for me: the plain black tee with the wide legged pants; the sweater with the sheer T shape on the back and shoulders; and the sweater with maxi skirt (or pants - I can't tell from the pic...either way it's great!) At the same time I am going crazy for those beaded/sequin leggings...Basically I love it all!

Christmas in the Dominican

This year we (my BF and I) are spending Christmas with his family. Instead of freezing my skinny Vancouver butt off in Toronto like I did 2 years ago, we are all going to the Dominican Republic!

I am SO stoked for this trip! We have both been working like crazy and are in much need of a holiday away. For me this is my first time going to the DR and my first time staying in an all inclusive resort. I can't wait to lounge around all day with nothing to worry about. All I need now are some good books to take with me - got any suggestions?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo x H&M

I was stoked when I learned that David Fincher was directing a North American version of book: The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. I was even more stoked when I found out Trent Reznor was doing the soundtrack (remember the Grammy award winning score for The Social Network?) Then to top off my excitement even more, H&M announced it is releasing a collection with costume designer/stylist Trish Summerville inspired by the lead character Lisbeth Salander.

The collection launches on December 14th (a week before the movie comes out) and by the looks of it is filled with lots of dark edgy pieces and LOTS of leather. I can't wait! I'm actually more excited for this than the Versace for H&M collection.

It was my New Year resolution to make cards for friends and family member's birthday. Since I usually fail at my resolutions I feel pretty good about still making cards in November. I did forget a few along the way and i'm sorry to those who didn't get one. Here's a few of the cards I made this past weekend for my November birthdays!

A couple weeks ago I made a quick trip to Michael's Crafts to pick up some last minute supplies for my Halloween costume. I was completely distracted with all their Christmas stuff that had just been put out. I thought it would be a great idea to make my Christmas cards this year...I got home and realized I would have to make 20+ cards! My desk is now a mess of red, green and white - can't wait to show you the final results!

I hope I can get them all done in time!!

Visionairies: Tom Ford

Last night I was completely enchanted by the Tom Ford Visionariesdocumentary on OWN. He talked about everything from his time with Gucci& YSL, mid-life crisis and his conflicting thoughts on the fashionindustry...oh and taking 3 to 5 baths a day!

I'm having a hard time picking out points to write about becauseI basically loved every second of the show. If you missed it, I highly recommend that youcheck it out for yourself. You can see some clips including deleted scenes on the OWN website. Enjoy!

There will be another Visionaries doc on photographer Annie Leibovitz that I am totally stoked for!

Purple Suede Shoes

Back in July I posted about my love of jewel tone shoes for fall. After a short obsession I bought these Vagabond purple suede booties from Solestruck!

They are the perfect addition to my fall wardrobe - I've been wearing them with everything! After wearing them to work, I was referred to in an email as "the girl with the awesome purple shoes" by someone who popped into the office. You can forget my name, but you can forget my shoes... I am totally OK with that ;)

Top 5 Fashion Rules

I was in no way surprised that an MSN article named Vancouver the third worst dressed city in North America. So I've decided to help everyone out and share my top 5 personal fashion rules:

1. Lululemon (or alternative yoga brand) should be reserved for workout wear or maybe lounging around the house. They especially should never be worn to the office - even on casual Fridays.

2. Leggings are NOT pants and should never be the last layer of clothing covering your bum. (We can thank Lindsay Lohan for this one..) Just throw on a longer top it's really that easy!

3. Flip Flops should only be worn to the pool or beach. There are plenty of other cute/stylish sandal styles available.

4. Ugg Boots should never be worn in the rain. I personally hate Ugg boots for various reasons but if you're going to wear them, please please please don't wear them in the rain. There's nothing I hate more than seeing someone shuffling along in a pair of soggy wool boots - gross!

5. "Comfortable" should never be the only word to describe your outfit. You can be comfortable and still look put together and stylish.

I absolutely love this LOVE magazine cover! I'll admit, I have a bit of a girl crush on the Fanning sisters - I think they look otherworldly... and I'm really happy that Dakota has managed to grow out of being a child star without the usual drama.

Here Elle looks so serene, like a little garden pixie. That ring is fantastic and come on - how cute is that bow?! such a simple detail.

Ok, Ok so I rolled my eyes and probably let out a groan when I heard that SJP would be on the cover of US Vogue... AGAIN! But after seeing the editorial I really kinda love the concept. I don't know if it's because I work with a lot mothers and there are often lil' ones running around the office or because it's my dream (hope) that I can maintain a certain level of style when I have kids of my own. I wonder if there was anything spilled on the designer duds?

Colour is a big trend for Fall'11. So for someone like myself, who wears a lot of neutrals during the winter months, adding colour using accessories is an easy option. I'm really loving these Jewel toned booties! They both have a great chunky heel which is right on trend. These boots would be a great POP to a neutral outfit or if you're feeling bolder, mix and match some other colours!

After a full scale postal strike happens 2 days after my order shipped I was GIDDY when these babies arrived on Tuesday!

Matiko~Lilo The girls at the office were surprise by this practical choice. I rarely wear flats because well... I just don't like them as much as I love a high heel. But these perforated leather loafers are the perfect flat for the days I decide to give my feet a break :)

Senso Wilma I have been obsessed with the Wilma bootie for a while now but somehow this is the first pair I own!! I am so so happy with this shoe - The nude colour goes with everything!

I've been so busy with work lately that I haven't had the time (or the energy) to post. Also, because I've been so busy I haven't been doing a hole lot of interesting things or had the time to do my usual "fashioning" as by boyfriend calls it. Anyways... last weekend my BF and I went to Victoria for a visit with some of his family. Of course I managed to fit in some shopping! Victoria has a great vibe and the city is full of cute boutique shops and great vintage stores! Here's a few of the treasures I found:

My favourite part is the back detail - such a neat idea!

This dress I found at a small vintage store ~ Regalia boutique. It's by far my favourite find! I plan to wear it to a wedding I'm attending on the Labour Day weekend. I just need to find a great belt to pair with it..

Found this lace top at one of Victoria's largest vintage stores The Patch. They have an amazing selection of second hand clothing and accessories for men and women - I'm surprised I only walked away with one item!

A silver owl! I love this lil' guy :)

These great little mugs I found at the Global Village Store. Everything they sell is fair trade and very reasonably priced

Last weekend I went to the Epic Sustainable living convention in Vancouver. My Mom and I have gone for the past 3 years and we love it! You find out about so many great Eco-friendly companies and products. This year (aside from the from all the amazing organic food and cosmetic products) I discover Green Earth Apparel. They are a local Vancouver company who makes basic silk screen T-shirts and tanks using organic and recycled fabrics. But what I really love about them, is their Tees for Trees project - for every tee they sell they plant a tree! How great is that?! I'm completely in love with my panda tank.

I've been seriously digging SENSO Diffusion for a while now. They are an amazing shoe line out of Australia offering great shapes and colours at a reasonable price point. I purchased the Neve Boot last October and they quickly became my go to shoes. I will definitely be adding the Blue/Gold Wilmas and Neon yellow wedges to my closet when they hit stores in a few months!

Well... aside from all the drama surrounding John Galliano right now this is a great collection. It's quintessential Galliano: dramatic, feminine yet wearable. I love how it starts moody and dark then transitions into very soft, pretty dresses. But through the whole show its always a very strong woman.

My absolute favorite part of the show is when they acknowledged the atelier at the end. It's truly an amazing art to take the ideas of a designer and translate that to beautiful, wearable garments. It would have been more fitting after a couture show, but with the circumstances it was appropriate.

I look forward to see who will take the reins at Dior. Any guesses?

I can't decide if D&G's Fall collection is quirky good or quirky bad. It's very 80's in silhouette and colour palette...and at first glance the head to toe letter print is a bit overwhelming. But looking closer at the some of the individual pieces I find there's few that I would actually wear.

Today I headed downtown with my BFF to take a look at the first spring items to hit the stores. I had A LOT of self control and only walked away with two pieces from Aritzia.

Wilfred Washed Silk Shorts:

I'm in love with these shorts. They fit and hang so beautifully. I think I'm going to get a lot of wear out of these this spring/summer. They had the same pair with a metallic embroidery which I'll probably go back for :)

A while ago I pre-ordered a dress from a friend's clothing line, The Penniless Fashionista. On Wednesday she dropped it off - Love it! I'll be wearing this to the Crave Vancouver launch party next week.

I've always been a big fan of 1920's fashion so when I heard about the Boardwalk Empire series I was really excited so see it. After watching the episodes so far it hasn't disappointed at all. The costumes are amazing with incredible attention to detail. This show is one of the most visually exciting shows I think I've ever seen on TV. I really hope this inspires a new fashion trend like Mad Men did. I know I have plans of incorporating some 20's inspired looks to my closet real soon.

If I had the money I would buy almost everything from the Lanvin x H&M collection. Well if I had the money I would buy real Lanvin... but that's another issue. Here's my wish list of what I'll be fighting for:

I think this asymmetrical skirt is my top pick.

I was planing on making a faux fur vest but if I don't get around to it, this will definitely be on my list.

The t-shirts are super cute, but being the lower priced items, I imagine they will sell out quick.

I just love the shoes... so girly!

The jewelery is cute, but it nothing you couldn't find else where. Still, I may not be able to help myself!

And for my main man:

Can't decide between these in electric blue or the more practical black... either way these shiny shoes are a YES.

This sweater looks so soft and cozy... we might have to share.

Lanvin for H&M

We now have 2 images of the Lanvin for H&M collection for us to drool over. Seeing that this will hit stores on a weekday (and I'm not really into waiting hours in line outside... it rains alot here), I had written it off that I wouldn't be able to get anything. But this morning I read on The Cut blog, that the collection will drop 3 days earlier in Las Vegas on Nov. 20th to celebrate the opening of the new store in the Forum shops. Why does this matter to this Vancouverite? Well that just happens to be the weekend that I'm going to be Vegas! I feel like fate is on my side and I'll be able to get my hands on something from this collection

What about you? Will you fight the crowds to get a piece?

Classic Wang, in all white - Perfection!

Loved the retro vibe of the entire collection. This look was my fav for is simple chicness. A+O is putting out a footwear collection for S'11 which means these slouchy peep-toe booties will be available come spring!

Charlotte Ronson

Rich orange showed up in a lot of collections for spring. This sheer orange dress by Charlotte Ronson is definitely one of my favorites. I love the styling of it.

Only 40 days till Fall

Like most people who love fashion, I LOVE fall. Sure the rain and cold weather can get annoying but there is nothing like fall fashion. The colours & fabrics are amazing and layering options are endless! I get so excited this time of year trying to plan what pieces I want to spurge on and get before they sell out.

My first purchase for fall are the Bradley boots from Jeffrey Campbell.

They arrived yesterday and I couldn't be happier with them - perfect distressed brown, perfect heel height and super comfy - I love 'em! Unfortunately it's too hot here to actually wear them out but I've been imagining outfits all day.

Now that I've satisfied that craving, I'm on to the next... These SENSO wedges!

They are very similar to the Acne wedges that I've been admiring since February and at $200 are much more affordable. Solestruck.com is doing pre-orders for them - I've dropped some not so subtle hints to my BF and family that I want these for my birthday on the 5th ;)

Spent the entire day sitting at the bar watching playoff hockey. I'm surprised I was able to stand after! Later we hit up the Longhorn to party.

Karl wants you to be warm next Winter

Living in a city that never really had a winter this year, I overheat just looking at the head to toe fur look. It kind of reminds you of chewbacca, right?

Maybe they'll need something like that in Scandinavia, where the iceburgs were brought from for the show. But all in all I love most things Karl does and this collection is no different. It makes me wish for some chilly days so I could wrap myself up in a chunky tweed coat.
